motherhood blog featuring a mom and her children outdoors

Welcome to My Sunrais 🌞

Right now I’m chasing a one year old who has no interest in slowing down, homeschooling a 10 year old, and trying to stay connected to a 15 year old who needs me in a completely different way than the other two.

All in the same day.

And somewhere in the middle of it all… I’m still learning who I am too.

Why “My Sunrais”?

I named this blog My Sunrais because my kids are my sun rays.

Each of them shines in their own way. And even on the hardest days… the exhausting ones, the overwhelming ones… they are still the light that pulls me through.

The spelling is a little different on purpose.

“Rais” is a nod to my nickname, RaiRai.

This name isn’t just a title… it’s a piece of my story.

Why I Started This Blog

I didn’t start this blog because I have everything figured out.

I started it because I don’t.

I’m a mom of three kids who are 14 years apart. I went through IVF to have my youngest. I’ve had three completely different births — a hospital birth, a C-section, and a natural water birth. I’ve experienced postpartum depression more than once. I’m still recovering from a back injury that came after my last birth, and some days it still brings me to the floor.

Motherhood has stretched me in ways I never expected… physically, emotionally, and mentally.

There have been moments that felt beautiful and grounding… and others that felt heavy, overwhelming, and hard to explain.

I started writing because I needed a place to put it all.

And somewhere along the way I realized — maybe someone else needs to read it too.

So this space became a place to share it.

Not perfectly. Not with all the answers. Just honestly.

What This Space Is

Real birth stories. Honest postpartum experiences. The ongoing stuff — my back recovery, homeschooling, figuring out three kids at completely different stages. And the quiet moments that remind me why all of it is worth it.

A Cozy Place to Land

Think of this blog as a quiet corner you can come back to.

A place where you can slow down for a minute… breathe… and just be.

Motherhood doesn’t come with a manual. And no two journeys look the same.

But if you’ve ever felt like you’re figuring it out as you go…

you’re not alone here.

I hope this feels like a place you can come back to 🤍

With love, Rachel (RaiRai 💛)
